After 550-plus Austrian wines over four days, my first impulse was to share some highlights with you. And there were many. It was fun, too. I mean, there were 300-odd of us from 30 countries, and we all liked wine. But then I had that feeling that I’d been somewhere special—we all had. There was another point to make. The ÖTW Single Vineyard Summit is all about origin—a place, its culture and all the meaning it carries—so that’s the story I want to share today.
The summit took place at Schloss Grafenegg, Lower Austria, from Monday, 7th to Thursday, 10th September 2026. I was invited as a guest because of my work for the Australian importer, CellarHand, which has had the pleasure of selling and promoting the virtues of Austrian wine for two-and-a-half decades.
This is a video, so I’m not going to fall into the trap of writing too much here. Please watch it. The imagery is fantastic; all of it is the copyrighted work of photographer Manu Grafenauer on behalf of ÖTW. I am indebted to both of them.
