Does Booktube displace critical review of books? • Booktuber Role tag

This conversation caught my eye over at Cliff's Dark Gems, and I really liked the questions posed. It was summed up in my mind as the question, "Whyfor, Booktubers?" and not just booktube, but why we as humans step forward and do this. Are we displacing journalists and dedicated book reviewers? Has the 'book review' died? And did BookTok kill it? That last question is not truly addressed here, to be quite honest, as that is simplifying the matter far too much. Maybe that is something I would like to discuss though...
