Job 29 is one of the most tender and heartbreaking chapters in all of Scripture. Job looks back on the days when God's presence was a lamp over his head, when his steps were washed in cream, when the young men stepped aside and the elders rose in his honour.

He remembers when he was a man of influence, comfort, and blessing — and now, sitting in ashes, all of it feels like a distant dream.

It is the cry of a man who once knew closeness with God and now feels only absence.

Hosea 2:15 meets that cry with a promise.
