Novartis Climbs, Mitie Soars, Babcock Up

- Novartis shares climb as much as 1.6%, the biggest gainer in the Stoxx 600 Health Care Index, after the Swiss drugmaker reported better-than-expected sales and earnings for the second quarter.
- Shares of Mitie soared as much as 42% in London, after OCS Group agreed to buy the company for $4.2 billion in a deal that would combine two of Britain’s largest facilities management companies.
- Babcock shares rose as much as 7.1%, leading gains amoung European defense stocks after the UK’s new prime minister Andy Burnham told NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte that John Healey’s appointment as Chancellor was a “signal of his intent” on defense.
