If you would happily stay home, put on some background music, make a cup of tea, and not leave the house all day, does it make any sense that you’d also love Disney World?

Apparently, yes.

My friend Summer is back on the podcast, and we’re talking about the funny contradiction of being total homebodies who also love traveling to one of the most stimulating places on earth.

Because when you really think about it, Disney gives us a lot of the things we love about home: familiarity, routines, comfort, nostalgia, and that feeling that we know where everything is.

So if you’re planning a Disney trip and wondering how to make it feel less overwhelming, this episode is for you. Especially if you’ve ever searched for a vacation for introverts and thought, “Well...Disney World probably isn’t it.”

We might change your mind.

In this episode, Summer and I talk about:

  • Why Disney World can actually feel comforting and familiar to a homebody
  • The “Disney bubble” and why staying on property can make a trip feel easier
  • How afternoon breaks, naps, pool time, and familiar bedtime routines can make Disney World with kids feel much more manageable
  • Simple Disney World tips like bringing familiar clothes, ordering your normal snacks, studying park maps, and packing favorite toys or stuffed animals

One of my favorite things Summer said is that there’s a difference between a schedule and a routine.

A schedule requires you to stay on track. A routine helps you find a comfortable rhythm.

That distinction can change the way you think about planning a Disney trip.

Some of my favorite Disney World tips have less to do with rides and reservations and more to do with making your family comfortable. The little things can make a huge difference when you’re doing Disney World with kids, especially when everyone is already taking in so much new stimulation.

Maybe Disney World really can be a vacation for introverts, homebodies, and people who just really, really like knowing where the bathroom is.

The goal isn’t to turn yourself into a different person because you’re on vacation. When you’re planning a Disney trip, think about what makes your family comfortable at home and how you can bring pieces of that rhythm with you. That’s especially true for Disney World with kids.

If you’ve been searching for a vacation for introverts, maybe the answer isn’t finding the quietest possible destination. Maybe it’s finding a place where you can create enough familiarity to actually relax.
