Florida Executes Oldest Death Row Prisoner for the 1982 Murder of Patty Gifford | True Crime News

Dela

On New Year's Eve 1981, 18-year-old Patty Gifford went out to celebrate in Fort Lauderdale. She met a man at a bar named Dennis Sochor. Hours later, she was dead — and her body has never been found. This past Tuesday, more than 44 years later, the state of Florida executed 74-year-old Sochor at Florida State Prison. He became the oldest person the state has ever put to death, in what was Florida's tenth execution of 2026 — more than every other state combined. Vanessa walks you through the case, the confession, and the national conversation this execution is now sitting in the middle of.
