Can you love God and still feel spiritually burned out?

In this episode of the Raw Christian Men’s Podcast, we discuss what spiritual burnout looks like, why Christian men often hide it, and how constant pressure, service, responsibility, and exhaustion can slowly drain our relationship with God.

Spiritual burnout does not always mean walking away from church. You may still attend, serve, pray, and know the right answers while feeling empty inside. Scripture feels like work, prayer feels forced, worship feels distant, and serving others begins producing frustration instead of joy.

Using Elijah’s experience in 1 Kings 18–19, we explore how spiritual victory can be followed by fear, exhaustion, isolation, and emotional collapse. We also look at Jesus’ example of prayer, solitude, and rest.

In this episode, we discuss:

• Warning signs of spiritual burnout • Why burnout can hide behind faithfulness • Spiritual numbness, resentment, irritability, and cynicism • The role of rest, boundaries, and physical health • Reconnecting with God without turning faith into performance • Knowing when to persevere, delegate, restructure, or step away

Burnout does not have to end your faithfulness. It may be the warning that leads you back to rest, honesty, dependence, and genuine intimacy with Christ.
