Most of us have done it. A symptom shows up late in the evening, the vet is closed, and we open ChatGPT and start describing what we are seeing. The answer comes back quickly and sounds completely certain.

In this episode, canine nutrition researcher Dr Conor Brady explains why that certainty is the problem. An AI tool has no ability to tell whether what it is saying is true, and he puts the figure at about 20 percent of facts, one in five, that could be questionable. He walks through how to structure a question so the tool challenges you instead of agreeing with you, why he tells it to stay away from news sources and Wikipedia, and the time it told him something about a dog's pancreas that made perfect sense right up until he looked for the evidence.

We also get into deepfake ads promoting pet products nobody actually endorsed, and the single message that protects you from acting on one.
