Can King Hezekiah save Jerusalem from the mighty Assyrian army? And what will happen when Assyria's powerful king challenges the living God?

In this exciting Old Testament Bible story for kids, King Hezekiah faces a terrifying threat from Sennacherib, king of Assyria.

Assyria has already conquered the northern kingdom of Israel. Now Sennacherib invades Judah, captures its fortified cities, and sends his officials to threaten Jerusalem.

The Assyrian spokesman, the Rabshakeh, warns the people not to trust Hezekiah or believe that the LORD can save them.

But when Hezekiah receives another threatening message, he takes the letter into God's temple, spreads it before the LORD, and prays.

God answers through the prophet Isaiah, promising to defend Jerusalem. And the mighty Assyrian army discovers that no earthly power is greater than the living God.

In this episode of Wonderfully Made: Bible Stories for Children, we discover how God delivered Jerusalem, why Hezekiah turned to Him in prayer, and what this story teaches us about trusting God when we are afraid.

Bible passages: 2 Kings 18:13–19:37; Isaiah 36–37; 2 Chronicles 32:1–23

Today's lesson: The LORD is the living God. No earthly king or army is greater than Him, and we can bring our fears and troubles to Him in prayer.

Wonderfully Made follows the story of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, helping children discover who God is, understand His unfolding plan, and see how He faithfully keeps His promises.
