Hey there, I'm Julia, and I'm so glad you're here with me today. You know, it's early Thursday morning, and I'm willing to bet you're already feeling that familiar tug—maybe you've got a full day ahead, or perhaps something's been sitting heavy on your shoulders. Whatever brought you here, I want you to know that taking these next few minutes for yourself? That's already an act of wisdom. So let's settle in together.

Find yourself a comfortable spot—doesn't need to be fancy. A chair, your bed, the floor with a cushion. Anywhere you can sit with your spine relatively upright. Now, let your shoulders drop away from your ears. Notice where you're holding tension, and just gently acknowledge it. No judgment. Stress is like snow accumulating on your shoulders without you even realizing it, right? We're going to melt some of that today.

Take a deep breath in through your nose, and exhale through your mouth with a little sigh. Do it again. In through the nose, and out through the mouth. One more time. Beautiful.

Now, I'm going to guide you through something I call the Stress Release Breath, and it's wonderfully simple. We're going to breathe in through your nose for a count of four, hold for a gentle count of four, then exhale through your mouth for a count of six. That longer exhale? That's the magic. It tells your nervous system that you're safe, that the danger has passed.

So let's begin. Inhale through your nose, two, three, four. Hold it, two, three, four. Now exhale slowly through your mouth, two, three, four, five, six. Feel that? That's your body shifting gears. Let's do it again. Inhale, two, three, four. Hold, two, three, four. Exhale, two, three, four, five, six. Notice how with each exhale, you're releasing a little more. The tension isn't fighting anymore. It's just... leaving.

Continue this rhythm at your own pace for the next couple of minutes. There's nothing to achieve here, no perfect way to do this. Your only job is to let your body remember what calm feels like.

And when you're ready, let your breath return to normal. Open your eyes if they were closed.

Here's what I want you to carry with you today: anytime you notice that familiar tightness—in your chest, your jaw, your shoulders—you have this tool. Four counts in, four counts holding, six counts out. It takes ninety seconds. You can do it in your car, at your desk, anywhere.

Thank you so much for spending this time on yourself today. If this practice resonated with you, please subscribe to the podcast so we can meet here again. You deserve this calm.
