A royal couple's heartfelt wish for a child is finally granted with the birth of a princess. To celebrate, they invite all the fairies to her christening, bestowing upon the princess gifts. However, an overlooked old fairy curses the princess to death by a spindle, which a younger fairy softens to a century-long sleep.
