Through short stories from my life, I reflect on well-known sayings such as “Better safe than sorry”, “Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today”, and “Slow and steady wins the race”. I explain what these proverbs usually mean, and why I sometimes disagree with them.
Some of the sayings turn out to be true in my own experience, while others feel limiting or stressful in modern life.
