Mark Rogers opens by noting he’s not the usual host and is no Clemson expert, though he watched several 2025 games (LSU, Syracuse, SMU, Duke, FSU, Louisville, Penn State bowl). He posted a recent scrimmage recap with Jason Priester (Clemson Insider) earlier that day.
He welcomes a new member (DGSLDLOGOSACCT) and emphasizes wanting fan input via the chat/call-in line. Regular All-In Show is Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET.
Preseason Polls & Underdog Mentality (7:55–16:15)
Clemson is unranked in the AP preseason Top 25 for the first time since 2011 (112 votes, first team out; unofficially ~26th). They were No. 23 in the earlier coaches poll and picked 4th in the ACC.
Rogers says it does not matter. AP writers typically get ~60% of the top 25 right. Dabo Swinney likely relishes the “nobodies” underdog role. Clemson has been the ACC favorite for most of the post-Jameis Winston era (except 2021 and after FSU’s 13-1 2023 season). Miami now looks like the clear conference favorite with more separation than any other league leader.
A win at LSU (the other Death Valley) would be one of the most impressive non-conference results in the country and could vault Clemson into Rogers’ personal No. 1 ranking based on quality of win.
2026 Outlook Starts at Quarterback (16:15–23:50)
The season hinges on the QB battle: fourth-year Christopher Vizzina (waiting in the wings for a third year after sitting behind Cade Klubnik) vs. freshman Tait Reynolds.
Some observers said Reynolds looked more impressive in the weekend scrimmage despite a pick-six. Reynolds is shorter, has a bigger arm, is faster/stronger, and fits Chad Morris’s offense better as a runner. Vizzina has more experience and a sturdier build. Rogers notes Vizzina never pushed Klubnik despite the latter rarely being a top-10 QB nationally. Vizzina’s one start (2025 at SMU) started slow but improved.
Wide receiver room is a strength: Bryant Wesco returning, plus Tyler Brown, T.J. Moore, and excitement around Gideon Davidson. Clemson’s WR play has returned to its historically high level after a drop-off in 2021–23.
Offensive line has rarely been a true plus. Defense must improve after multiple letdowns (Duke, SMU, Syracuse, etc.). Key returning pieces: Will Helt, Sammy Brown, Ashton Hampton (one of the best at his position nationally).
Chad Morris Hire & Offense (18:25–22:20, 43:00)
Rogers is skeptical of second-stint assistant hires (similar to head-coach returns like Rich Rodriguez or Scott Frost). Morris architected Clemson’s rise the first time but has not called plays in ~5 years.
Chat comments mixed: some dislike the hire (comfort pick after Garrett Riley failed); others say the offense now has a pulse and Morris won’t struggle with situational/game-day issues that plagued Riley. Rogers views it as Dabo going back to the familiar after the unfamiliar Riley experiment failed.
Dabo Swinney Discussion (24:00–31:30)
Rogers calls Swinney his favorite coach and a Hall of Famer who has positively impacted the sport, while acknowledging past disagreements (especially early portal/NIL hesitation). Clemson is now more involved in the portal but still less than most programs.
He does not believe Swinney is on borrowed time. Two more 7-6 seasons would raise questions, but the program should be judged going forward. Chat comments: Swinney waited too long on the portal/NIL; his two worst coordinator hires (Wes Goodwin + Riley) happened at the same time; he will leave on his own terms.
Schedule, Expectations & Odds (35:00–43:00)
This is a “reset” year with curiosity rather than last year’s top-5 disappointment (7-6).
Clemson plays an 8-game ACC schedule and misses Louisville, SMU, and Virginia. Miami is at home. If they handle the rest, they could be 7-1 in conference and reach the ACC title game.
FanDuel odds: Miami -150 to win the ACC; Louisville and SMU +750; Clemson +1600; Pitt and Virginia +2000.
LSU opener: Clemson +9.5 (moneyline around +290). Rogers would have LSU as a 6–6.5-point favorite on a neutral field.
