A clever chickadee transports a sunflower seed named Pip away from the parent plant, hiding him under a pile of leaves by the garden fence to serve as a winter snack. Although the bird forgets the location of this specific seed, Pip survives the cold, snowy months underground while waiting patiently for the arrival of spring. Following the winter season, warm rain awakens the soil, allowing Pip to successfully sprout into a brand-new sunflower plant.
