We are joined by the Director of Mustache, a coming of age story of a Pakistani Muslim American boy in Silicon Valley in the 90s! It follows Ilyas, a 13-year-old boy during his transition from Islamic School to a public school. This story has so much teen angst that we all can relate to it, but it still manages to show us a glimpse into a particular cultural and religious community. Mustache is a incredibly thoughtfully made film that won the SXSW Audience Award for Narrative Features in 2023. It stars Atharv Verma as Ilyas, Rizwan Manji and Meesha Shafi as his parents, Alicia Silverstone as Ilyas' High School theater teacher and a cameo by Hasan Minhaj! It is a must see!
