In this special two-part episode, we sit down with Commodore Pamela Healy, a leader whose name is synonymous with US Sailing excellence. As the incoming Commodore of St. Francis Yacht Club during its centennial year, Commodore Healy is a true icon of the sport. She is a 1992 Olympic Bronze Medalist and 470 World Champion, and she most recently served as the Chair of the 2024 US Olympic Team Trials in Miami.

In the first part of our conversation, Commodore Healy takes us back to where it all began. She shares the story of her early days learning the ropes on a Cal 20 on San Francisco Bay and the moment she fell in love with sailing as a young girl. We discuss the genesis of her Olympic dream, the challenges of finding the right partner before the era of cell phones and emails, and the immense pressure of the Olympic selection process. She reveals the mental strategies that helped her overcome self-doubt, the intense preparation leading up to the Barcelona Games, and what it truly feels like to walk that tunnel toward the starting line with a medal on the line.
