In episode three of The Bowyer Podcast’s “Be a Man” series, host Matthew Morris talks with author and counselor Luke (L.S.) Goozdich about why men need “story” through both literature and personal narrative. Luke shares his background living with a congenital heart defect, later blood clots, and ongoing organ failure, and explains how rejecting fatalism and choosing empowering narratives helped him keep moving forward. They discuss modern victim mentality, the influence of fiction on boys and men, and reading as a form of rebellion against constant phone-driven stimulation. Gudish describes his path into adventure fiction via ’80s action films and Louis L’Amour, co-founding Veritas Entertainment and the Men’s Adventure Fiction Podcast, and outlines his Noah Redford series (Fire in the Tall Grass, Odyssey of Fire, and upcoming Fire in the Tomb).
