Mackinac, along with Detroit and other locations in Michigan, seems to share similarities with the sacred landscape of Minneapolis, where the Dakota used the concept Kapemni (ka-pem-knee), meaning roughly “as it is above, it is below.”
We also talk about the Masonic Temple in Detroit and whether its location was chosen for a reason. After all, Detroit sits on old sacred ground, in a region where Native traditions recognized certain locations as places of spiritual significance— potential bridges between the earthly and cosmic realms.
These traditions describe points of connection between Earth and the heavens—locations associated with Orion, the star ancestors, and what we might today describe as a kind of “stargate.”
