In Italian Catholic belief, the saints are not simply figures from they are spiritual guides and intercessors who can pray on our behalf, accompany us through difficult times, and help guide us closer to God.
Within Italian folk practices, devotion to the saints has also become deeply woven into everyday life, family traditions, rituals, prayers, and spiritual practices passed down through our families.
I’m sharing a deeply personal story about my own encounter with the Madonna in a dream, and how that experience became part of my journey back to Italian folk practices. For me, reconnecting with these traditions became a way of reclaiming my family’s culture, spirituality, and ancestral heritage.
If you feel disconnected from your own cultural or spiritual traditions, I hope this reminds you that finding your way back can begin with something very simple - listening, learning, praying, and being open to where that path may lead you.
The saints can be guides but, finding our way home begins with simply answering their call.
