Well, that was Cris Pop for me. Cris built his company, Thunder, with the specific intention that work and humanity never have to compete. When people ask him why he's so intent on building a human-centric culture, he's crystal clear on the why. It's because he's worked in enviroment where that was lacking. And it didn't feel good.
