True Lies: Taxpayer-Funded Marriage Counseling With Nukes

A secret agent can stop terrorists, jump rooftops, and steal a Harrier jet, but he still can’t figure out how to talk to his wife. We get into True Lies with the right amount of love and side-eye, because this movie is peak 90s action comedy: huge stunts, sharp character beats, and jokes that land harder than they probably should. We walk through the plot, call out the scenes that define it, and ask the obvious question: how did anyone believe Arnold Schwarzenegger was a “computer hardware salesman”?

We also spend time on what makes the cast click. Jamie Lee Curtis gets a real arc and some iconic moments, Tom Arnold delivers chaos like it’s a sport, and Bill Paxton plays the smarmiest fake spy with total commitment. From the staged mission and interrogation gags to the bridge chase and missile payoff, we talk about why James Cameron’s direction makes the whole thing feel expensive, practical, and oddly sincere even when the logic goes off the rails.

Then we pivot into everything else we can’t stop thinking about: HBO’s Monsters of God and the wild world of reptile smuggling, plus the GTA 6 leak and the bigger argument over digital games, physical discs, and what it means to actually own what you buy. If you like movie reviews, pop culture detours, and honest debates about games and media, you’ll have a lot to chew on.
