Episode 37: Does R&D need a New Operating Model? - with George Booth, King's College, London

Dela

Research and development are industry’s promise for the future. Yet, a perfect storm is brewing. Rising costs, longer cycles, and higher sustainability and performance standards are increasingly compromising R&D budgets. Moreover, complex R&D problems can no longer be addressed inside neat, isolated technology tracks.

Simultaneously, technologies such as AI, high-performance computing, quantum methods, and automated testing offer the opportunity to help R&D face these challenges, but only if businesses can determine a way to bring it all together in a way that is scientifically sound, scalable, and realistic.

This episode of the New Era of Engineering explores how a longstanding partnership between academia and enterprise is enabling deeper thinking about such integration.
