In this episode we looked at how cancer's own super-enhancer-driven growth program physically snaps its DNA, creating repeated break-and-repair cycles that may generate the mutations fueling tumor evolution. We then covered EPS8, an aging protein that hyperactivates RAC signaling and drives the toxic protein aggregation behind Huntington's and ALS — knocking it down cleared aggregates in both worms and human cells. Third, an antisense oligonucleotide targeting the glycine transporter SLC6A20 restored NMDA receptor function and social behavior in adult autism model mice, with the same effect reproduced in human cortical organoids. We also broke down a 150,000-person, 30-year cohort showing that just 90 to 120 minutes of strength training a week tracks with 13% lower all-cause mortality, and up to 45% when paired with regular aerobic exercise. Finally, we ended on evolution: Indigenous Andeans carry more copies of the starch-digesting AMY1 gene than any known population, a signature selected for after potato farming began roughly 10,000 years ago.
