Kendra Dumbledore has always been the Dumbledore we know least, mentioned mostly as the mother who dies protecting a magic she couldn't control. This episode goes looking for who she was outside of that role, and finds a Muggle-born woman living almost a century before Voldemort ever rises, in a wizarding world with no social cost yet attached to open prejudice against people like her. Working from a handful of scattered details in Deathly Hallows, from Auntie Muriel's gossip at Bill and Fleur's wedding to a single photograph Harry studies years later, this is a speculative read, built out of what the text leaves us to work with rather than anything it confirms. What emerges is a woman organizing her entire existence around four separate secrets, and a case for what one household's silence can tell us about the whole magical world's relationship to concealment.
