Ayyyy welcome back to your fave travel podcast. Thanks for tuning in and getting yourself ready to make some MOVES with me. Let's get it!
In Season 5 Episode 12, I am joined by Shireen from Ireland. After leaving behind a successful corporate career in London, Shireen booked a one-way ticket to Thailand in search of a much-needed reset. What was meant to be a nine-month backpacking trip turned into a completely different life. Four years later, she has built a career as a full-time digital nomad, traveling to more than 30 countries across six continents.
As the daughter of an Irish mother and an Iranian father, Shireen's relationship with Iran has been especially meaningful. At 23, she traveled there for the first time to meet her family, carrying with her years of negative perceptions shaped by headlines and media coverage. Instead, she discovered a country filled with extraordinary hospitality, rich history, unforgettable cuisine, and a warmth that challenged everything she thought she knew.
In this episode, Shireen shares what it's really like to travel through Iran, the misconceptions that often surround the country, and why she believes it's so important to separate the Iranian people and their culture from the country's politics. Through her personal experiences, she offers a rare and nuanced perspective on one of the world's most misunderstood destinations.
