Ed Sheeran Biography Flash a weekly Biography.
Ed Sheeran’s Loop Tour is moving forward today, October 10, with a newly rebuilt support lineup after a political controversy reshaped the American leg. According to People, former Fray frontman Isaac Slade will open Sheeran’s shows in Indianapolis, Charlotte, Arlington, and Tampa, while American Idol contestant Brooks Rosser is also scheduled for tonight’s Indianapolis concert. Slade confirmed the dates on Instagram.
The changes follow Macklemore’s removal from the tour after pro Palestinian remarks during his performances. Irish broadcaster RTE reports that Sheeran said the decision came from the promoter after stadium owners objected, rather than from Sheeran personally. Finneas, Lukas Graham, Aaron Rowe, and Sheeran’s backing band Beoga subsequently left in solidarity with Macklemore. Sheeran later apologized during a Philadelphia performance for mistakes in handling the controversy and described the Gaza conflict as catastrophic, unjustifiable, and disproportionate.
The episode has become more than a scheduling dispute. It now marks a significant moment in Sheeran’s public biography, placing a normally cautious performer at the center of a debate over political expression, venue pressure, and celebrity responsibility. NME reports that Sheeran said he was appalled by the suffering on both sides and did not consider himself complicit, while Macklemore has announced a sold out European Free Palestine Tour, with proceeds intended for humanitarian organizations.
Sheeran also addressed unexpected family drama during the Atlanta concert on October 3. According to Brazilian newspaper O Globo, he said he had not spoken with cousin Jethro Sheeran for a long time after Jethro publicly called him selfish and malicious over the Macklemore affair. Those accusations remain the cousin’s claims, and no independent evidence has substantiated them.
Isaac Slade had already appeared as a surprise guest at Sheeran’s Atlanta show, according to Rolling Stone and Ground News, urging the audience to seek common ground. That appearance now looks like the first test of a more permanent tour reset. Sheeran’s remaining American dates continue into November, followed by concerts in Chile, Paraguay, Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico. No opening acts have been confirmed for those Latin American shows.
