Ep. 409 - How Your Family can Lead a Girl Out of Bullying Patterns

Dela

What should you do when you discover your own daughter is the one hurting someone else?

No parent wants to receive the phone call, text message, or conversation revealing that their child has been unkind—or worse, has developed a pattern of bullying another girl. While those moments can stir embarrassment, defensiveness, or even shame, they also present a powerful opportunity for discipleship. In this episode, Rachael Culpepper and Natalie Ambrose encourage Christian parents to respond with courage, humility, and a heart committed to both truth and restoration.

Continuing the Raising Godly Girls back-to-school series on bullying, Rachael and Natalie discuss the important distinction between isolated unkindness and repeated bullying behavior, why secrecy allows harmful patterns to grow, and how parents can lovingly guide a daughter toward confession, repentance, and reconciliation. Through a thoughtful Raising Godly Girls Minute from AHG Founder & Executive Director Emeritus Patti Garibay, listeners are reminded that telling the truth isn't an act of betrayal—it's often the very first step toward healing for everyone involved.

The conversation also offers practical, Gospel-centered guidance for parents navigating these difficult situations, including acknowledging the hurt caused, praying for wisdom and discernment, understanding the full scope of the behavior, involving the appropriate adults, and encouraging a daughter to take responsibility for her actions. Rather than minimizing or excusing sinful behavior, Christian parents have the privilege of demonstrating God's mercy by helping their daughters walk the path of genuine repentance and lasting restoration.

If you've ever wondered how to respond when your daughter makes a poor choice, this episode offers hope-filled encouragement that God doesn't waste our parenting challenges. Even difficult conversations can become opportunities to point our girls toward the transforming grace of Jesus Christ.

Three Things to Consider:

  • Address harmful behavior with honesty and grace. Accountability is an act of love that points your daughter toward lasting heart transformation.

  • Pray for wisdom before responding. Ask God to help you see the full situation clearly and guide your daughter with both truth and compassion.

  • Pursue restoration, not simply consequences. Genuine confession, repentance, forgiveness, and reconciliation often take time, but they reflect the heart of the Gospel.
