Willie Nelson Biography Flash a weekly Biography.
As of September 26, Willie Nelson is in Virginia Beach for Farm Aid 2026, the benefit concert he co founded in 1985 to support family farmers. CNN reports that Nelson and Family will perform tonight at Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater, alongside Neil Young, John Mellencamp, Dave Matthews, Margo Price, Nathaniel Rateliff, and others. CNN is scheduled to broadcast the festival from 7 pm to 11 pm Eastern time.
The event carries unusual historical weight because it marks Farm Aid’s first Virginia Beach edition and continues Nelson’s four decade role as the organization’s most recognizable advocate. RFD TV reports that Farm Aid has raised more than 90 million dollars since its first concert. Nelson said family farmers strengthen communities and that their struggles affect everyone.
In the past few days, Nelson has also appeared on Anderson Cooper’s CNN program in an interview recorded aboard his tour bus before Farm Aid. CNN reports that the 93 year old musician discussed his latest book, his views on the afterlife, and his experience battling Covid. The interview is among the clearest recent glimpses of Nelson’s personal outlook and confirms that he remains publicly engaged despite his age and demanding schedule.
Nelson also performed with Neil Young during a short co headlining run leading into Farm Aid. JamBase reports that Young joined Nelson and Family in Bridgeport, Connecticut, for Are There Any More Real Cowboys. The pair then played Philadelphia on Thursday, where the Philadelphia Inquirer described the two veteran songwriters as proudly unpolished but still compelling live performers. Their collaboration reinforces a partnership that has become central to both their musical and activist biographies.
JNS reports that Nelson is expected to take time off from touring after Farm Aid. That is a reported plan, not evidence of retirement. No reliable source reviewed here confirms a new business venture, major social media announcement, or health crisis in the past few days. Unverified online claims should therefore be treated cautiously.
