Marcia shares her story of how an appearance on the American television news magazine 60 Minutes, in which she told her in-laws that she and her then-husband had no plans to have children, led to the loss of her teaching job and being unfairly labelled a child hater.
We discuss Marcia's decision not to have children and the deep commitment that motherhood requires. Marcia shares her experience of being childfree in the 1970's, a time when she found herself alone in her choice.
We discuss pronatalism and the common phrases used to shame and scare women into motherhood, as well as Marcia's two books, Confessions of a Childfree Woman and WHAT? You Don't Want Children?
