Anton Kartavykh was born in Ukraine (when it was still part of the Soviet Union) and moved to Germany with his parents when he was nine. He grew up in both worlds, which makes up part of his vision of the world today and try's to reflect some of this in his work.

At approximately 25 years of age, he accidentally fell in love with analog photography and found great inspiration in the work of the masters like Henri Cartier-Bresson, Garry Winogrand, Martin Parr and many others.

Over the years he developed his own style of street photography which leans towards the classics of the genre. To this day he predominantly works in black and white adopting a hybrid analog process, developing and scanning his films at home.
