Sk: V jedno krásne jarné popoludnie, Ján kráčal po hlavnej ulici do miestneho obchodu s potravinami.
En: On one beautiful spring afternoon, Ján was walking down the main street to the local grocery store.
Sk: Všade kvitli kvety a vtáci spievali.
En: Flowers were blooming everywhere, and birds were singing.
Sk: Ján miloval jarné dni, no tentokrát bol jeho krok ťažký.
En: Ján loved spring days, but this time his step was heavy.
Sk: Stále premýšľal o tom, čo videl pred pár dňami.
En: He kept thinking about what he had witnessed a few days ago.
Sk: Pri regáloch s ovocím vošiel do obchodu vysoký muž.
En: At the fruit shelves, a tall man entered the store.
Sk: Rýchlo si napchal do vrecka niekoľko balíkov čokolády a bez zaplatenia odišiel.
En: He quickly stuffed several packets of chocolate into his pocket and left without paying.
Sk: Ján to videl na vlastné oči, no strach z reakcie toho muža ho odrádzal udávať.
En: Ján saw it with his own eyes, but the fear of the man's reaction deterred him from reporting it.
Sk: Dnes však bol iný deň.
En: Today, however, was a different day.
Sk: Ján zbieral odvahu a zamieril na policajnú stanicu.
En: Ján gathered his courage and headed to the police station.
Sk: Stanica bola plná policajtov vo uniformách.
En: The station was full of uniformed officers.
Sk: Všetko sa zdalo byť v pohybe – telefóny zvonili, klávesnice klapali.
En: Everything seemed to be in motion – phones were ringing, keyboards clattering.
Sk: Ján cítil trému v žalúdku, keď sa postavil k pultu.
En: Ján felt butterflies in his stomach as he stepped up to the counter.
Sk: „Dobrý deň, rád by som niečo nahlásil,“ začal Ján, jeho hlas sa trochu triasol.
En: "Good day, I would like to report something," Ján began, his voice trembling a bit.
Sk: Policajt za pultom, mladík s priateľským úsmevom, sa sklonil bližšie, aby lepšie počul.
En: The officer at the counter, a young man with a friendly smile, leaned in to hear better.
Sk: „Áno, prosím.
En: "Yes, please.
Sk: Ako vám môžem pomôcť?
En: How can I help you?"
Sk: “ spýtal sa policajt povzbudivo.
En: the officer asked encouragingly.
Sk: Ján hľadel na policajta, nervózny, ale odhodlaný.
En: Ján looked at the officer, nervous but determined.
Sk: „Bol som svedkom krádeže.
En: "I witnessed a theft.
Sk: V obchode s potravinami.
En: In the grocery store.
Sk: Muž ukradol čokolády.
En: A man stole chocolates."
Sk: “„Videli ste jeho tvár?
En: "Did you see his face?
Sk: Alebo si pamätáte niečo iné?
En: Or do you remember anything else?"
Sk: “ spýtal sa policajt, pričom si zapisoval každučkú informáciu.
En: asked the officer, noting down every piece of information.
Sk: Ján prikývol a podrobne opísal muža, jeho tmavú bundu a nezvyčajný klobúk na hlave.
En: Ján nodded and described the man in detail, his dark jacket, and the unusual hat on his head.
Sk: Policajt ho pozorne počúval a znova sa usmial.
En: The officer listened attentively and smiled again.
Sk: „Je dobré, že ste to nahlásili, Ján.
En: "It's good that you reported it, Ján.
Sk: Vaša odvaha je obdivuhodná.
En: Your bravery is commendable.
Sk: Ubezpečujem vás, že vaša identita zostane za každých okolností utajená,“ povedal pokojne a povzbudzujúco.
En: I assure you that your identity will remain confidential under all circumstances," he said calmly and reassuringly.
Sk: Ján sa cítil menej vystrašený a viac sebavedomý.
En: Ján felt less scared and more confident.
Sk: Úľava a pocit zadosťučinenia ho naplnili.
En: Relief and a sense of satisfaction filled him.
Sk: Vďaka tomu, že sa rozhodol konať, získal novú odvahu.
En: By deciding to act, he gained new courage.
Sk: Cítil, že spravodlivosť má význam a že jeho hlas má hodnotu.
En: He felt that justice had meaning and that his voice had value.
Sk: Keď Ján opúšťal stanicu, slnko stále svietilo a vzduch bol plný jarných vôní.
En: As Ján left the station, the sun was still shining, and the air was full of spring scents.
