A new tutoring programme has been taking Sheffield by storm, but its roll-out has coincided with a higher number of truancy cases across schools, citywide. Meanwhile the Bureau is investigating strange bursts of exotic matter, indicating someone is using alien portal technology in the city, but where and why remains a mystery. At the centre of it all, Dunrie finds himself coming down with a strange neurological illness that baffles his mother and community elders...
