Cobwebs are found in places that we have missed — corners of the house, ceilings and under furniture. They reside in places we haven't been paying attention to. The cobwebs invites us to look out for hidden or missed opportunities in our life. Our children are bursting with opportunity for themselves and for us. Cobwebs remind us to spend time with our children, to create opportunities for them and openings for our spiritual development. According the late Maurice Sendak (whose books we read in this episode), he believes it is "…unnatural to think that there is such a thing as a blue-sky, white-clouded happy childhood for anybody. Childhood is a very, very tricky business of surviving it. Because if one thing goes wrong or anything goes wrong, and usually something goes wrong, then you are compromised as a human being. You're going to trip over that for a good part of your life.” And because of this childhood predicament, we should seize the day and take advantage of time to prevent missed opportunities for our families.
