The guidelines also target excessive investment and speculative tech bubbles. US AI incident reporting rules - US officials say AI companies will have to report security incidents and take corrective action. The policy follows allegations about Anthropic's use of government systems and adds new compliance duties for AI developers. Microsoft Execution Containers for agents - Microsoft made Execution Containers generally available, giving AI agents restricted sandboxes instead of open access to user data and devices. Anthropic, OpenAI and Nvidia are named users, a step forward for agentic AI security. The move strengthens Cloudflare's developer and edge-computing ecosystem, and its shares rose. Nvidia's $1B Genesis Mission pledge - Nvidia committed $1 billion over five years to US scientific research, quantum computing, health care and energy security. The pledge is tied to the administration's Genesis Mission. Gorilla Technology's US data center push - Gorilla Technology signed a non-binding deal for its first US data center, about 36 megawatts. It plans to expand its US AI infrastructure platform by more than 100 megawatts. The outage followed a reported strike on a site housing AI supercomputers. Episode Transcript Nvidia chip smuggling guilty pleas Let's start with that chip story. Ting-Wei Sun, who goes by Willy, pleaded guilty in US federal court to four counts tied to exporting servers loaded with advanced Nvidia AI chips to China without the required licenses. Prosecutors say the wider scheme began in 2023 and involved about two and a half billion dollars in American AI technology. In a related case, a contractor connected to Super Micro Computer also pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges over the unauthorized export of servers carrying Nvidia's H100, H200 and B200 processors, all of which are restricted from sale to China. Two pleas in short order send a clear signal that Washington is ramping up enforcement. They also show how hard it is to stop high-end AI hardware from slipping across borders once it ships inside ordinary-looking server racks. China's AI safety oversight plan Staying with AI policy, governments on both sides of the Pacific are tightening their grip. China announced plans to build systems for technology monitoring, risk warning and emergency response, aimed at keeping artificial intelligence safe, reliable and controllable. Notably, the guidelines also warn against excessive investment and speculative tech bubbles. Beijing is still treating AI as a strategic priority, but it wants a firmer hand on the wheel. In the US,...
