This episode of Konstnären is a conversation with Gregory Sholette, a New York-based artist, activist, and writer, best known for his influential book Dark Matter: Art and Politics in the Age of Enterprise Culture.
Sholette uses the cosmological term “dark matter” to describe the vast realm of artistic practice that remains largely invisible or marginalized by the formal, commercial art world: amateur, autonomous, non-institutional, grassroots, activist, unwaged, DIY, and self-organized work. This and many other topics are the subject of this episode, including the New York art scene in the 70s and 80s.
The host is Robert Stasinski, editor in chief of Konstnären Magazine
The show is produced by The Artists' Association of Sweden.
