Heresy Purifies Doctrine [IYBM2 2/5]

By God's wonderful design, much good is brought out of the distress and confusion caused by heresies which rear up and repeat in the life of the Church. Confronting these lies with the reality revealed by Christ, heresy serves to purify doctrine, so that the splendour of truth shines ever more brightly against the deepening backdrop of darkness. Though heresy is painful to confront, the lasting result is a stronger, more mature Church.
