Social Sequencer 2 turns a simulated chatroom into a generative music engine as each user is a MIDI agent, and as their conversations grow more complex, the music does too. The project uses this as a lens for a bigger question. Is any "new" information ever truly new, or is it always just existing patterns being shuffled, selected, and remixed. The piece explores this through emergence in decentralized vs. centralized networks, speculates on how a rogue AI might diverge from its human origins the way a new species diverges from its ancestors, and asks whether novelty can ever come from outside a system or only ever from within it.
