Welcome to the 37th Monday Reset for Sports Parents — a short reflection inside The Youth Sports Parenting Tribe.

Each Monday Reset brings you one word, one idea, and one mindset to help you start the week calm, clear, and connected.

This week's word is Growth.

Are you measuring the right thing?

We track goals, minutes, rankings, scouts. But the growth that actually matters doesn't show up on any scoreboard — the kid who resets after a bad play instead of falling apart, the one who now asks the coach questions, the athlete who digs in when things get hard instead of checking out.

The outcomes we obsess over are mostly outside their control. The growth we overlook is what they're building every single day — and what will matter long after the sport is over.

This week, find one moment where your child handled something better than they would have a year ago. Tell them you noticed. Be specific: "I saw how you handled that. That's growth."

The scoreboard shows who won. You get to show them who they're becoming.

Take a breath. Reset.

What you choose to notice shapes what your child believes about themselves.
