I recently spoke with violinist and BPO Associate Concertmaster Amy Glidden, who will be performing Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1 on October 23 and 24. Tickets and more information can be found here.
By coincidence, Amy and I are both native Kansans and both of us graduated from the University of Kansas, neither of us with a degree in music.
We had a lovely conversation about Wichita, Bruch’s famous concerto, and the role of the Associate Concertmaster.
I hope you enjoy our discussion as much as I did.
Bruch’s violin concerto is one of the most performed in the symphonic repertoire and, as Amy described it, “easy on the ears.”
Watch the first three minutes above, performed in 2021 by Janine Jensen.
