As founder, CEO, and a professional athlete herself, Faatimah is the driving force behind the Women’s Premier Basketball Association, the nation’s leading development league for women’s basketball, born in Oakland in 2022 with nothing but a vision and now heading into its fifth season this June. In this episode, she opens up about what it actually takes to build something from scratch: the doubt, the scrappy early days, the moments she had to be player and executive in the same breath, and the vision that kept her going when there was no blueprint to follow.

We talk about what it means to create opportunity instead of waiting for it, how the WPBA has become a real pipeline (100+ athletes placed professionally overseas, two now in the WNBA), and why Oakland was always the right place to plant this flag. Faatimah’s story is a powerful reminder of resilience and what it looks like to build your future from the ground up.

This episode was fueled by Drink Hippie, because building from the ground up takes real energy.

Tune in for a conversation about vision, grit, and refusing to shrink your ambitions to fit someone else’s league.
