The Stillwater Mines have been abandoned for generations, left to rust above a body of water that never ripples unless something beneath it chooses to move.
You came looking for a story. A rumor. Proof that something still lives beneath the old processing levels.
But the thing in the water was never only a monster. Long before the mines, she slept in the dark, ancient, silent, untouched. Then the miners broke through into her resting place, and everything they brought with them seeped into the depths: noise, fear, metal, memory, and the final peace of those who never surfaced again.
Now she waits in the Stillwater Mines, carrying the last moments of everyone the mine has taken. She does not hunt. She does not chase. She simply remains.
But remaining is not the same as mercy.
Corra does not go looking for the surface world. She does not need to. Sooner or later, the surface always sends something curious down into the dark.
And when you fall into her water, she discovers something impossible in you. Something that does not fade. Something that looks back.
Something iridescent.
And Corra has never wanted to keep anything before.
