Since the turn of the millennium, Su Hui-Yu (b. 1976) has used mass media as a critical interface to surface narratives we have forgotten or suppressed, or those that need a redo to actively rewrite our present.
This podcast series is a deep dive into the worlds of Su Hui-Yu and the exhibition that turned a Copenhagen gallery into a fully functional, psychedelic television station. Across two episodes, we go deep into Su Hui-Yu's works, what has shaped him as an artist and his collaborative method of 're-shooting' to add transparency into the world.
His museum-scale productions, staged from the Museum of Contemporary Art, Taipei, to the Bogotá Museum of Modern Art, have made Su Hui-Yu one of the most closely watched artists working with new media today. This year, in collaboration with Copenhagen curatorial duo Martin Wendelbo and Regen Li of Tofu Collective, Su brings his practice to Scandinavia for the first time transforming the exhibition space Room Room into a working TV station with Vroom Vroom: A Total Story by Su Hui-Yu. Here, existing films, live performances and real-time filmmaking all unfold as a living archive, staged in dialogue with Scandinavian television history and the clichés of the genre, the variety show.
Tune in on this episode for a sonic deep dive into the opening of Vroom Vroom: A Total Story by Su Hui-Yu, recorded live in Copenhagen in late spring 2026.
