Your inbox is full. Your kid needs a ride. Your parent's doctor calls back in the middle of your meeting. And underneath it all, a voice keeps saying, "I have to. I have to. I have to."

As school ramps up, Q4 deadlines hit, and the holidays creep closer, the sandwich generation to-do list gets heavier. The tasks are real. But the way we talk to ourselves while we carry them can make a real difference, for us and for the people around us.

In this episode of The Mindful Midlife Mom, I share a recent week when I came back from a conference to a pile of work decks, my mom's car search, and my dad's medication questions. Then my daughter asked to go to the mall. Here's how one small shift in self-talk changed that afternoon.

In this episode, you'll learn:

  • Why the heaviness of a long to-do list often comes out sideways, as short answers and impatient tones with the people we love
  • What cognitive reappraisal is, and why Stanford research shows it calms stress better than gritting your teeth through it
  • How holding in frustration can even raise the blood pressure of the people around you
  • Three ways to flip "I have to" self-talk, whether the ask comes from your kids and partner, your aging parent, or your work
  • A guided mantra practice to build the habit, one small moment at a time

Learn how to go from “ugh, I have to…” to “I get to…” Start feeling lighter and less pressure by tapping play now.
