This week on the pod we’ve got Alphonse Pierre, who in addition to being the proprietor of an excellent substack called The Leaks, writes over at Pitchfork and is widely agreed to be the foremost expert on contemporary rap music in all the land. Topics discussed include teenage Alphonse taking the Staten Island Ferry into the city to go to St. Marks Place, the influence of Pressa on Canadian rap, and whether Ian could impress Alphonse by dropping a Broken Arrow reference. This is also kind of a Remember Some Guys episode, in that we spend a lot of it Remembering Guys who were and maybe still are rappers.

Nersey is hosted by Trey Smith, Slava P, and Drew Millard; our producer is Steel Tipped Dove and our music is by Craig S. Jenkins. Please consider supporting the pod by becoming a paying subscriber on our Substack.
