Dela

The Vegas Golden Knights (8-2-0) dominated the Pittsburgh Penguins (3-5-1) to the tune of a 6-2 decision on Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena.

The Golden Knights jumped out to an early lead Saturday, scoring three times in the first period to take control of the game. Rasmus Andersson opened the scoring just 66 seconds into the contest, with Jack Eichel and Mark Stone assisting. Noah Hanifin doubled the lead less than three minutes later, again with helpers from Eichel and Stone, before Stone added his fourth goal in two games late in the period. Stone recorded one goal and two assists in the opening frame, extending his point streak to three games with seven points (4G, 3A) over that span. Eichel and Stone also made franchise history as the first pair of Golden Knights to record multiple assists within the opening five minutes of a game. Eichel skated in his 700th career NHL game.

Pittsburgh scored on the power play in the second period, but rookie Trevor Connelly responded less than two minutes later with an unassisted breakaway goal, his fourth of the season, to lead all NHL rookies. Connelly also recorded an assist on Stone’s first-period goal and now has seven points, including four goals, on the season. Shea Theodore added a one-timer for his second goal of the campaign, with assists from Brayden McNabb and William Karlsson, giving Vegas a 5-1 lead after two periods. Theodore finished with a plus-three rating, while Mitch Marner recorded two assists to extend his point streak to six games, totaling nine points (2G, 7A) during that stretch.

The Penguins scored again in the third period, but Brett Howden sealed the victory with an unassisted empty-net goal, his fourth in his last six games. Adin Hill stopped 22 of 24 shots for a .917 save percentage, earning his fourth consecutive win to start the season. The Golden Knights have now scored 17 goals over their last three games and won four straight at home. Vegas has also scored 41 goals through its first 10 games for just the second time in franchise history, joining the 2024-25 team, which scored 47 over the same span. Stone is tied for the NHL lead in three-point periods this season.
