Before the Great Crusade and the Horus Heresy, Terra was a post-apocalyptic wasteland. For over five thousand years during Old Night, humanity was torn apart by anarchy, war, and the horrors of the Warp. The planet was ruled by a nightmare rotation of feral nomads and oppressive techno-barbarians like the Unspeakable King. This week, the crew dives into the Unification Wars when the Emperor rises from the ashes to conquer Old Earth. For the very start, when Blood Angels were stalking battlefields as the cannibalistic "Eaters of the Dead", and Proto-Night Lords cast ten million innocent people into a chasm at Vhnori, the foundation of the Imperium was built on pure, unadulterated atrocities that culminated in the "final stand" of the Thunder Warriors at Mount Ararat—where the survivors of the Unification Wars were ruthlessly cut down by the Emperor's own Custodians.
