According to their website, "Gold Standard is an all original progressive bluegrass band with heavy influences of soul, jazz, and folk." One listen to their EP, Better Than These Days, will bear that out. Kate Stenson, Ian Moore, Gregg Daigle, and Loren Dempster are taking traditional bluegrass sensibilities and layering on their influences from other genres in some very imaginative ways. What this means is that those who might not otherwise listen to bluegrass might find something new and fresh to dial their ears into. Gold Standard is bringing bluegrass to an entirely new level.
