What does it actually look like to build a long-term, sustainable career in an industry most people misunderstand?

Before the explosion of Only fans, Minnie St. Claire, a Black Canadian cam model who entered the industry in 2003, long before the influencer economy, subscription platforms, and mainstream conversations about sex work. With no roadmap and little representation, Minnie had to figure it out in real time, learning how to turn a stigmatized space into a legitimate business.

Over the course of 23 years, she didn’t just stay in the industry, she evolved within it. She built a brand, created financial independence, and refused to conform to the narrow narratives often placed on sex workers, especially Black women.

This conversation goes beyond curiosity and into reality. Minnie breaks down what cam modeling actually looks like behind the scenes, from the discipline and consistency required to the business strategy most people never consider. She also speaks candidly about the stigma she’s faced and how she’s navigated it without shrinking herself. This episode is about more than sex work. It’s about ownership—of your story, your income, your identity—and what it means to build a life that doesn’t rely on traditional systems for validation or security.
