The Home Secretary has ordered an independent inquiry into claims that around 300 Metropolitan Police recruits may not have been properly vetted between 2016 and 2023.
Concerns arose after an internal Met review identified potential failures during a rapid recruitment drive. The probe follows past scandals that badly damaged public trust in the force.
