The Podcast: The Outdated Wrestling Hour With Bob Smith podcast – now heading toward its fourth year – offers veteran fans (as well as curious younger ones) a chance to reminisce about classic mat action from years gone by. The show is hosted by Bob Smith, the former managing editor of Pro Wrestling Illustrated magazine who also enjoyed a long history with other famous titles. Co-host Joe Puccio (GenerationXWire.com) offers a younger perspective on old wrestling before the duo ushers in guests from throughout the professional mat landscape.
The Topic: Pundit Mike Leotis (a wrestling commentator and part of the popular Wrestler Weekly posts on Facebook and across social media) returns for a second look at Don Owen’s Portland Wrestling, referred to by many in the 1980s and ’90s as “Pacific Northwest Wrestling.” Smith and Leotis talk about the contributions of “Playboy” Buddy Rose, Curt Hennig, Roddy Piper, Billy Jack, The Grappler, Ed Wiskoski, and many other stars who either started their careers in Portland or became stars afterward, helping to write an important part of wrestling history. It’s a new/old Outdated Wrestling Hour, as always offering our thanks and appreciation for the classic wrestling of decades gone by!
